I recently stumbled across a cool blog highlighting the vast array of rock n roll shows to pass through the Youngstown area.  See the STEEL STRINGS link in the site bar and if you are/were from Y-town….stir up some memories of shows you either seen or missed.

Here’s a great moody mid ’60’s release by Cinci’s The Blue Dells. Buckeye Beat mentions the band was together from ‘66-’69 and had five members….no much info to add by me. Great tune!

The little info I could gather on this country/swinger includes it was released in 1970 and was recorded at the Mus I Col recording facility in Columbus.  1970???? this one sounds straight outta the mid ’50s !!!!

Here’s a doo-wop side out of the capitol city. The only info I have is what is seen on the label. I’m guessing a late ’50s or early ’60s release on this one.

The Trends-I’ll Be True

From 1969 comes the second offering by The Sound Barrier on the UNITED AUDIO label. Featured is the trippy vocals of Patty Pshsniak. This release came with a cool foil picture sleeve that is quite rare and sometimes shows up on ebay. An excellent write up of the band can be seen at Buckeye Beat (link in sidebar) and  HERE.  Paul Hess guitarist from the band has recently compiled a cd highlighting the band’s recordings. 

The Sound Barrier - Greasy Heart

From 1968 comes this girl group with a mild garage sound on the HAMLET label. Keeping in the Dayton area for the “Dayton Does Dayton” event mentioned by a follower. Not sure when that happens (or if it already has) but it gives me an excuse to focus my posts on an area.

Not much info on this rare release from ‘67. Label has band members listed so that helps some.
