From 1961 comes a slow side out of the capitol city. Not much info here, but I image “Bob” is Bob Hill credited for writing the tune.

STRONGBOW —- COLUMBUS

This cut from 1973 has that classic hard rocking sound typical of the era. The release is on the band’s own label as they just “reformed” in ’72. Buckeye Beat has a great write up on the band.
GEORGE WESTERMEYER III —- COLUMBUS

Here’s one I would like to get some info on…. The KARE label is from Columbus, but if you look closely…it states “PRODUCED BY PEPPERMINT PRODUCTIONS” which was based on the south side of Youngstown. So, I’m not 100% sure where this one should be linked to. Never the less, I have found that George did a decent lounge act in the early ’70s. YOUTUBE has some more of his work.
THE TRENDS —- COLUMBUS

Here’s a doo-wop side out of the capitol city. The only info I have is what is seen on the label. I’m guessing a late ’50s or early ’60s release on this one.
THE COLUMBUS PHARAOHS —- COLUMBUS

Back to 1958 for a nice side out of the capitol city. Good sax on this one. Interested in more info?? Read it HERE
RICKY BARNES AND THE HOOT OWLS — COLUMBUS
One of my favorite bands outta Columbus. Great alternative country circa mid-80′s. Originally distributed by the owners of Used Kids Records on the OKRA label. I believe some of their material may be available now on import.
