Back to Cinci for this gem from 1964. It’s the only release from the band released on Dayton’s PRISM label. Check-out Buckeye beat for the lowdown on this one….interesting!

From 1968, here’s the only release by Cinci’s Wanted & Co. , a good fuzz drenched slab.

Here’s a good ol’ country side from Betty Blevins. The info I am aware of, is that the ARK label was from Cinci. Not sure if Betty lived there or not but she cool enough to be included here either way.

On a good news! side note….I was able to recover ALL files on my crashed hard-drive…now they are backed up 2x. Let the posting continue!

Back to Cinci for today’s post. Fans of Columbus’ Gibson Bros. (more on them @ a later date!) may recognize this gem as that’s where I first heard it. For additional info on Bill, check out his Rockabilly Hall of Fame page HERE
Also I HIGHLY recommend finding more of his material, classic stuff.

Here’s a mooovin’ instrumental on the LEE label. From what I have found, members included Ray Pennington, Dumpy Rice, Jimmy James Thomas and Junior Boyer. Any additional info..is welcomed if you have it!

Here’s some additional information from Dave Swigert, who played piano on this record. Dave was kind enough to check in & inform us on this 45rpm. THANKS Dave for the info and great recording!!!
Here are some facts behind the recording “one way express” issued on Lee records. Ray Pennington was performing at Cincinnati nightclubs including ‘The Hut’ in Mt Carmel and ‘Twilight Inn’ roadhouse south of Oxford in the 1959-1961 era. Under the name Ray Starr, his r&r band was named the Starlighters. In the spring of 1960 his piano player, Dave Swigert, wrote a couple instrumentals for the band which Ray arranged a demo taping session for. ( I have the original acetate renderings). Satisfied with the results, Ray arranged for the recording session at King Records studio on Brewster avenue. ‘One Way Express’ was released on the Lee label as a B-side to another instrumental (from a separate date and musicians). Here are the musicians at “one way express” session:
Dave Swigert- Piano
Terry Burnside- Saxaphone
Ebbie Hoard- Electric bass
Lonnie Rose- lead guitar
Ray Pennington- drums
